The Free State Stars Football Club will be looking to kick-off their 2012/13 season with a bang when they take on SuperSport United in an MTN8 fixture at the Peter Mokaba stadium this Saturday.
Mr Price SPORT and the Maxed brand recently announced their partnership with the Free State Stars Football Club, who will become the first professional soccer team to wear the Maxed product.
At an FSS Awards Banquet last week, goalkeeper Kennedy “Kapa” Mweene was named player of the 2011/12 season, which he said was a real honour.
“I feel so good to have been given this award, I would like to dedicate this to my fellow teammates because without them I wouldn't have been able to achieve what I did. It's the Free State Stars who pushed me to perform and enabled us to perform as we did.”
After this Saturday’s MTN8 encounter, the Free State Stars will begin their PSL campaign against Bidvest Wits next weekend.
Mweene said he was confident it would be another successful competition for Free State Stars, who will be looking to build on their sixth place finish last season.
“We have released a few players, but brought in a lot as well, so there is enough ammunition for the next season. The new players are settling in and learning the culture of the team. We have a lot of talent and don't be surprised to see these players shining for Free State Stars.”
He also warmly welcomed the new partnership with Mr Price SPORT and the Maxed brand.
“It's something amazing to have Mr Price SPORT and Maxed forming a partnership with us, it's a win-win situation. The product will certainly impact positively on our performance and we are looking forward to working with them. We are very fortunate to be the first professional soccer team to wear the Maxed product.”
